After the revolution of 1911, the forms of costumes in China had great changes. The costumes styles in Qing Dynasty were gradually weed out. When you study in China, you should know the most popular at that time was cutting the pigtail. Foreign learners who study in China should know even though cheongsam was not so popular at that period of time, it still existed. The unlined long gown with blue cloth was gradually become popular.

With appearance of films, the movie stars became the eminent persons and Shanghai became the main place that the women’s dress was popular. Teachers in Chinese language school may tell you that the life of the female had great changes because they were influenced by the thoughts from abroad. As a result, most of them began stepped into the society and devoted themselves to all kinds of industries. Those who study in China should also know that the styles and materials of the costumes changed rapidly because the communications between cities and the outside world became more frequently. But the differences between rural and urban areas were getting larger.
