Volunteer Project 1: Migrant Primary School

Migrant primary schools are for children whose parents move to the city to work from rural areas. Those schools are usually non-profit and non-government schools that receive no financial support from the government. Many migrant workers cannot afford to send their children to local private schools or public schools. Resource in those schools is usually very limited because one teacher has to teach all the subjects and the teacher cannot pay enough attention to each child.

Volunteers will learn Chinese at Keats School in the morning during the summer and do the volunteer work in the afternoon. Work at migrant primary schools includes teaching English or other subjects that you are good at and organizing activities for the children.  

Recommendation letters are provided to all participants.

Volunteer Project 2: Disabled Children School

Disabled Children School is for children who have hearing impairment, speaking impairment and sight impairment. Students are mainly taught by sign language. Most educational programs at the disabled children school prepare students with special skills to support themselves for a living after graduation, such as blind massage, cosmetic make-up, hairdressing, basic computer skills, cooking, etc.

Volunteers will learn Chinese at Keats School in the morning and do the volunteer work in the afternoon. Work at disabled children school includes teaching English or other subjects that you are good at and organizing activities for the children.

Volunteer Project 3: Mental Health Therapy Center for Children 

Mental Health Therapy Center accepts children with autism, developmental disorders and related disorders, language barriers, attention deficit (hyperactivity disorder), mental retardation, learning difficulties, sensory integration dysfunction, and any other children with special needs and their families. Mental Health Therapy Center looks to improve the health and the quality of life of socially disadvantaged children,

Volunteers will learn Chinese at Keats School in the morning and do the volunteer work in the afternoon. Volunteers have to be passionate about their work and patient to take care of the children. The volunteers can play games with children, sing songs or tell stories to the children, or teach English. The work can also be assigned by teachers.
