The form-loaning means only the forms of the foreign words are loaned to the Chinese words, but not the pronunciation. When you learn Mandarin, you should know the meaning of the loanwords will be changed and different from the original meanings. Another thing you should know when you learn Mandarin is that the words after free translation are not regarded as loanwords such as 电话、扩音器 and 收音机 because such words obey the Chinese usage and habit in pronunciation and structure.

As a matter of fact, during the period when you learn in Chinese language learning program, teachers may tell you that most of Chinese loanwords are from Japanese like 手续、取缔、景气and 故障. Those words are written in the form of Chinese language in Japanese language. When you learn Mandarin in China, you should also know those words are translated from the aspect of meaning are usually regarded as the words in Chinese language. In learning process, you can pay attention to it and tell apart with the words of transliteration.
